The Journey Collection, part 10

There is a question that I find extremely fascinating yet I can find very little research on. That question is "Which is more important or meaningful; the Journey or the Destination?" When trying to explain myself to a friend, I broke the question down to "Is the purpose of a destination to get you out of the house and experience the purpose along the journey, or to experience the purpose at your destination and the journey is just a means to get there?" These two questions are what I wanted to write a paper on because when I finally arrived at the Cathedral in Camino de Santiago I was underwhelmed. Not because of the Cathedral, which was stunningly imposing, but because of all of the meaning of my trip, everything I had learned had happened along the road to the Cathedral. Getting to Santiago simply marked the end of the trip for me and signaled that I would be going home. So, I guess my answer to the questions posed is the Journey is more important. I learned and grew along the way. I found my strengths and my weaknesses, my passion and creativity, and most importantly answers to a question that had been tearing me apart. That was my Camino, that was my way.
